This act started as a comedy bit in between acts in a Burlesque show. I never thought I’d do it more then a couple times, but the bit was so well received that I was invited to be a featured act in burlesque shows in Portland. In the White Album Christmas Show, Bruno Knickerbocker is put up to the challenge of getting Sugar Kane the one thing she wants for Christmas, The Beatles White Album. Bruno needs to rob a bank to get money to buy the only copy he can find. He attempts a speedy getaway in his clown car but finds Officer Burk Biggler hot on his trail.
This story starts out with a Circus Ringmaster who will do anything for a buck. He wonders by a Santa Clause booth that has been abandoned and he sees opportunity. Will he manage to make a buck before the real Santa Helper returns? Will the number end with a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer sing along?
Sugar and Russ really French things up for the song made popular by the foreign film The Triplets of Belleville. This performance piece was made special for the cover done by the Stolen Sweets for their Secret Sweet and Hot show that showcased Burlesque performance by Rose City Shimmy as well as partner dance numbers by Swing Time.
In this act Rusty Trombone brings up unsuspecting guest Jessa Bell, and proceeded to do completely unplanned and unsuspected movements that involved elements of acrobatics and foot fetish with her. Never before had they met up or receive any kind of coaching or encouragement from K’lyn (Jessa Bell’s wife)
One mans trash is another mans treasure. This time someone threw out what seems to be a perfectly good radio. Our garbageman takes it home to find joy in the company of it’s noise as he does his dirty work. Little does he know that his control of the radio is no greater than his control of his captured victim Brandy Guthery.
When at first you don’t succeed, try Chocolat! The beautiful tassel twirler known as Ellie Darling comes together with Rusty Trombone to display the powers of Chocolat in an passionate display that will make everyone feel a little dirty.
Lady Emily, played by Jessica Hoage, is the girlfriend and accomplice of Bruno Knickerbocker in the Wanderlust Circus. Bruno first joins the Wanderlust Circus following his heart that has been captured by this young aerialist. Together, they hope to one day flee from the Wanderlust Circus and ride off into the sunset together.
Fit as a Fiddle and ready for Love! Noah Mickens and Russell Bruner pay tribute to a duo act that was made known to them in the classic film Singin’ in the Rain. Noah and Russ do their own version of the dancing portion and sing along to music supplied by the Juan Prophet Organization.
One day Sugar and Rusty were at an outdoor performance in August several years ago. There were no plans for rain that day, but there it was poring all over everything at the event. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band was playing, and there was no way Rusty and Sugar were going to let that music go by without dancing.
